    Buenos Aires City Mayor Mauricio Macri gave a press conference to reply to the Government's official stance. Macri stated that Cabinet Chief Aníbal Fernández had unveiled the current administration "has forgotten about the South of the City," while stating that his own administration has been helping "that area" and reminded "that its needs to receive more help than other spots in the City."

    Local, national gov't officials continue negotiations, hope to stop violent clash between Villa Soldati residents, squatters settling nearby

    Officials from both national and local governments met again this afternoon in order to continue negotiations and find a solution to the extremely violent confrontations between angry residents in the Villa Soldati area and the squatters living inside the Iberoamericano Park nearby, that have already left four people dead and many more injured. The first emergency meeting had ended last night in no agreement between the parts, which were represented by officials from both governments and the squatters.

    Gov't fails to reach agreement with Macri, but grants security in Villa Soldati

    From a televised press conference in the Government House, Cabinet Chief Aníbal Fernández confirmed that the national and local governments were unable to reach an agreement regarding the illegal settlements in the Iberoamericano Park in Villa Soldati, for which he ordered the National Gendarmerie to surround the park in order to protect the squatters inside from the residents in the area asking for their removal. The Gendarmerie arrived at the park at 5pm.
