    Subway D line service resumed after unexpected protest

    The D line subway line service resumed yesterday at 1.50 pm after being brought to a halt for nearly three hours while workers carried out an unexpected union protest. Earlier, workers pertaining to the AGTSyP union opened turnstiles between 9 am and 11 am allowing passengers to travel for free on their morning commute.

    Following the opening of ticket barriers at some major subway stations between 7 am and 10 am this morning, subway workers stated that they could well carry out a strike on Thursday from 5 am until 8 am, if they did not receive a response from Metrovías over wage talks.

    Subway workers to strike on Thursday despite mandatory concilitation

    Subway workers ratified the strike they will hold on Thursday from 5 am to 8 am despite the fact that the Labour Ministry issued a mandatory conciliation. Subway and tram workers union (AGSTYP) leader Néstor Segovia confirmed the measure and said “the only way to lift” strike if the Labour Ministry and Metrovías summoned workers for wage talks.

    City urges National Gov't to 'define' new transport rates

    Buenos Aires City Deputy Mayor María Eugenia Vidal questioned the National Government’s new transport fare tariffs for non-SUBE card users and stated that they needed to “be clearer” regarding the removal of subsidies on bus and train fare costs. Vidal also underlined that the Subte will maintain the $2.50 cost in February for customers utilizing all payment types.

    Deputy Mayor María Eugenia Vidal announced that the City Government will not offer SUBE card holders a lower subway fare, as the National Government is planning on doing with the bus and trains system after February 10.
