CFK thanks Peru over frigate decision, calls for regional 'joint defence' against militarization of South Atlantic

In a live press conference on Tuesday, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner thanked “the Peruvian government and population” for their decision to leave without effect the scheduled visit of a British frigate “in support of the Argentine sovereignty claim over the Malvinas Islands.”

State of emergency remains in Bariloche, schools, public buildings to stay closed

Volcano ash spewed by the Puyehue stopped falling over the city of Bariloche and the Andean region, although local authorities announced that the state of emergency remains in effect. Schools and other public buildings will remain close, while all flights to and from the region remain cancelled.
