Once considered impossible to make, the big screen 3D adaptation of the bestselling novel "Life of Pi" will open the 50th New York Film Festival on Friday, marking another advance in digital filmmaking
Filmmakers Steven Spielberg, Kathryn Bigelow, Ben Affleck, Tom Hooper and Ang Lee received nominations from the Directors Guild of America (DGA), ahead of the Oscar nominations this week.
There are just three new additions to local cinema listings this second week of the year. First on the list is "Jack Reacher," starring Tom Cruise, also Ang Lee's "Life of Pi" and, last but not least, "Arbitage."
