    Sarkozy: 'I have never commited an act against the Republic'

    Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy said the country's legal system was being used for political means after he was put under formal investigation for corruption. He stressed he had never betrayed the French nor "committed an act against the Republic's principles and the rule of law".

    Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva met this morning French President Nicolas Sarkozy before heading to the Political Science Institute in Paris where he is going to become the first Latin American leader to become doctor Honoris Causa at the Institute.
