Metropolitan police officer shot dead in Caballito
A Metropolitan Police officer was killed this morning after being shot by delinquents who were trying to steal his car. The police official was on his day off, and was with his girlfriend when the attack took place today in Caballito neighbourhood, police sources informed.
The incident occurred along the intersection of Rojas and Méndez de Andes streets, when the officer -dressed in civilian clothes- was waiting at a traffic light, where his attackers crossed in front of his car and shot him three times.
Police sources said that the girlfriend who accompanied the policeman in the car was unharmed. The woman rang the police and called an ambulance, but SAME paramedics were unable to revive him, the officer died on arrival to Churruca Hospital due to the severe gunshot wounds following the shooting.
Federal Police from the Police station 13 who are investigating the murder stated that the met police officer had tried to resist the robbery and was shot twice in the stomach and once in the back.
The death of this officer today marks the second murder of a Metropolitan police officer this year in Buenos Aires.
