'Yet impossible to determine what happened,' Berni
National Security Secretary Sergio Berni said causes of this morning's Sarmiento accident can not yet be determined. First versions alleged the train failed to brake just like it happened in February 22, 2012 when another Sarmiento train crashed against the security fence resulting in 51 people killed and hundreds seriously wounded.
“So far there has been no dead. In some minutes we will have the injured list,” Berni told reporters and added that “evacuation” is still taking place.
The motorman has been hospitalized and remains under police guard.
