Local ‘super hero’ investigated after using assault weapon for self-defence

A man in a super hero costume that goes by the name “Menganno” in Lanús district is under investigation by the police after he fired an assault weapon to fight off three robbers who ambushed him and his wife outside his house.

According to the authorities, the masked man did not have a legal permit to carry an assault weapon, for which he could be arrested in the next few hours.

“Menganno” is 45 years-old and a retired Deputy Officer of the Buenos Aires province police who left the force due to health problems.

The incident, which became public this morning, took place on Tuesday night when the man, widely known in the area for his countless appearances in football games and other events, fired 14 rounds at the perpetrators who tried to rob him.

After the shootout, the frustrated criminals escaped and according to Menganno’s Facebook page, no one was injured in the crossfire.

No arrests have been made so far, although "Menganno" could be arrested before the end of the day.
