Juan Martín Del Potro wins Vienna Open

Top-seeded Juan Martín Del Potro beat Grega Zemlja (Slovenia) 7-5 6-3 Erste Bank Open final in Vienna to clinch his 12th career title and third of the season.

Del Potro reached the final after beating Gilles Müller 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-5).

A runner-up last year, Del Potro defeated Gilles Müller of Luxembourg 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-5) to reach his fourth final of the year, while Zemlja rallied to stun second-seeded Janko Tipsarevic 3-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-2 and become the first Slovenian player in an ATP Tour final.

The 70th-ranked Zemlja was 0-4 against top-10 players. The Slovenian played 15 sets to get to the final, Del Potro seven.

In his 17th career final, Del Potro was looking for his third final of the season after winning in Marseille and Estoril. He had never played Zemlja before.
