City Gov't extends academic year in secondary schools on protests
Students protesting the syllabus reform in the City.
The City Government announced the extension of the academic year for all secondary schools that were taken over by students protesting against a syllabus change, the Education Ministry announced.
The City Government also created a website “in order to help parents have their children finish the third trimester of the 2012 school year” in case the conflict continues.
In an ad published on several print dailies, the Ministry said it took that decision “in order to make sure that the minimum quota of effective school days per year is offered, guaranteeing educational quality.”
In practice, the disposition assures that the third school trimester will end once all the lost school days have been recovered.
