Gov't calls for Severo's 'serious accusations' to be investigated
Justice Minister Julio Alak said today that all hypotheses must be investigated regarding the kidnapping of witness Alfonso Severo on grounds of the reports he did following his reappearance, which he linked with the application of the media law.
“Severo’s reports must be investigated, because he is reporting a very serious incident, because he assures that somebody is creating a delicate institutional situation in detriment of the President, the Government and the Congress in order to avoid the application of article 161 of the media law which Grupo Clarín must abide by and must sell several of its media outlets before December 7th.”
Late on Thursday, Alfonso Severo appeared alive following a 24 hour- kidnapping, which he assured was a message for the President.
“I would also like to thank Severo’s public clarification regarding the fact that he never asked to be a part of the witness protection programme. A person can only access the programme if a court orders so or if a person requests it. Many times the Ministry has offered witnesses to enter the programme but they decline because they do not want to change their identities or move their families.”
