Belsunce case: Carrascosa appeals sentence to the Supreme Court
Carlos Carrascosa, a businessman convicted and sentenced to life for murdering his wife María Marta García Belsunce in 2002, requested his acquittal to the National Supreme Court.
In his last resort to revert his sentence, Carrascosa's defence insisted on his innocence, stating that his wife was murdered by thieves, and that he and his family were victims of the inefficiency of the case's prosecutor, Diego Molina Pico.
The petition was presented last Friday by attorney Fernando Díaz Cantón, after Buenos Aires province Supreme Court rejected the nullity petitions requested on September 10.
The case shocked the Argentine society as several members of both high-profile families, were prosecuted and linked to the murder of García Belsunce.
Carrascosa, who has been in prison since his conviction in 2009, has always claimed his innocence.
