'The government is trying to instate fear politics,' Moyano

The secretary-general of the CGT umbrella union Hugo Moyano slammed the government's policies today and said that “we are not being granted the kind of freedoms that we want.”

Furthermore, Moyano also linked the legal initiative put forward by the government, a move to lower the age of legal responsibility.

The teen suffrage bill “is a preamble to lower the legal age of responsibility to 16-year-olds.”

Moyano said he was against the youth vote, which if passed will allow 16-18 year olds to vote, saying that “the kids are not ready” to choose who runs the country.

The statements were made today during an interview with a local radio station, where the trade union leader added: “it’s a very sensitive and delicate subject that needs sufficient time put into debating the topic.”

“People aren’t greatly interested in kids having the vote and the kids themselves neither care for it very much,” Moyano said.
