Gov't to guarantee gas supply for homes in case of extreme cold weather
Planning Minister Julio de Vido assured today that in case of a extreme cold weather snap, the State will cut gas from big companies to guarantee the supply in private homes.
He assured that has been the Government’s policy since late President Néstor Kirchner took office in 2003 and that these type of measures are included in the sector company’s contracts.
“It is a decision of the State, and has been since 2003, that when facing an extreme cold snap, that gas is cut off to industries to guarantee home consumption,” he assured.
The Government official accused sectors that “are always lobbying for a hike in tariffs, and never support of guaranteeing energy self-sufficiency. These sectors on one hand claim for an increase in fees, based on investments, but when the State began the subsidies cut off to those who can afford they, they once again protested.”
“The national government decided to take back YPF to prioritize self-sufficiency,” he added.
