    Venezuela joins Mercosur

    In a special Mercosur summit to be held in the Brazilian Itamaraty Chancery in Brasilia today, President Dilma Rousseff, along with her counterparts Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, Uruguayan José Mujica and Venezuelan Hugo Chávez, will officially incorporate Venezuela into the bloc. Following its suspension from Mercosur, Paraguay will not attend the meeting.

    Rural Society head voices discontent

    Hugo Biolcati, the head of the Argentine Rural Society (SRA), questioned yesterday the national government for failing to meet demands voiced by farmers, and complained about “denied inflation” and “savage violence.” Biolcati also said that politicians should not aim for constitutional reform “adapted for those who are in power.”
