Explosion occurs outside EU branch in Buenos Aires
Explosive materials were set off outside the door of the European Union’s branch in Argentina, located in Barrio Norte neighbourhood. Early police reports said the explosion only caused superficial damage and that there were no injuries.
The explosion took place between 2.45 am and 3 am at the entrance to the Argentine branch of the European Union, along Ayacucho at 1537, in the centre of the city of Buenos Aires.
As a result of the incident, damage was caused to the front door of the building, and to three windows and a side garage.
Police officers from Police Station 17 and the Bomb Squad, alongside the Federal Police’s fire brigade, SAME ambulance staff and a Metrogas van were all working at the scene to try to determine the exact causes of the explosion. No injuries were reported.
