Bertrand Bonello to head Feature Films jury in Critics Week at Cannes 2012
French film director Bertrand Bonello will preside over the features film jury during Critics Week at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, organisers informed. In addition, the head of the short films jury will be led by João Pedro Rodrigues.
The jury, dedicated to discovering new talent, is made up of Bonello and four journalists. The jury runs parallel with the main features film jury which has eight judges in total. Bonello’s jury will decide on which film the Nespresso Grand Prize will go to.
The Critics Week prize will be announced on May 24 and two Latin American films are in the running: “Here and there (Aquí y allá),” by Antonio Méndez Esparza – a film about Mexican immigrants living in the United States who go back to Mexico – and “The Savages (Los Salvajes),” by Argentine director Alejandro Fadel.
In the category led by Rodrigues, ten short and medium-length films are to be judged, including: "Yeguas y cotorras", by Argentine director Natalia Garagiola and "O Duplo", by Brazilian director Juliana Rojas, who presented "Trabalhar Cansa" at last year’s festival.
