'I'll die being the workers' candidate and not the one of whoever is in power,' CGT's Moyano

CGT Labour Confederation boss Hugo Moyano led a massive rally at Parque Roca in the City neighbourhood of Villa Soldati. The former teamster announced the payment of 7,000 compensations to garbage collectors, thus following an agreement reached with the City government, and took some time to throw jabs at the national government.

Moyano, who received the support of thousands of truckers at Parque Roca, aimed at his chances of being re-elected as head of the umbrella union in the midst of an ongoing battle between him and the National Government as well a faction that responds to unionist Luis Barrionuevo, and the group known as the “fat cats” who lead the Dissident CGT.

In front of 30,000 workers, Moyano said that the fact that he makes the government nervous "is a good signal to continue in charge of the CGT", and warned, "I will die being the workers' candidate and not the candidate of whoever is in power."

It is expected that during the rally, Moyano will take jabs at the government of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, and reiterate the claim for a hike of the tax revenue minimum, to update family allowances, among others.
