London 'confident' new Argentine Ambassador will boost relations

Alicia Castro recently appointed as the Argentine ambassador to the UK.

The British Foreign Office welcomed today Alicia Castro’s nomination as the top Argentine diplomat in the country. United Kingdom Foreign Office Minister Jeremy Browne said he was confident the Argentina's new Ambassador to the UK will work to boost relations between the two nations.

After a meeting with the Argentine official, Jeremy Browne pointed out there was “lots of potential for bilateral relations” but reiterated the British position as a “protector of Malvinas’ citizens rights,” while stressing the British government position not to negotiate the island’s sovereignty.

Regarding Argentina's proposal to establish Aerolíneas Argentinas airline regular flights to the Malvinas Islands, Browne said he would present the offer to the island’s government “ who has authority over those matters and should respond in due time.”
