Trade surplus doubles in March after import controls

The trade surplus doubled in March compared to the same month last year, boosted by the imports control to protect the local industry, according to the Indec national statistics bureau.

The surplus reached $1.077 billion dollars during the third month of the year. In March 2011 it had totalled $518 million dollars.

The exports ended up at $6.276 billion dollars, 2 percent higher than last year, while the imports fell 8 percent to $5.199 billions.
