'We will not be supporting this decision,' Macri on YPF nationalization

Buenos Aires City Mayor, Mauricio Macri.

City Mayor Mauricio Macri came on stage today to reiterate the centre-right PRO party’s negative stance on the National Government’s decision to put forth the expropriation of petrol company YPF, throwing sharp critique against it. “I would like to communicate that we are not going to support this decision,” the city official stated.

“Although it pains me, I would like to communicate that we are not going to support this decision. We ask that all of the senators reflect once more on what they are doing and that they think of the people and patriotism,” Macri said today during a live press conference.

“This decision is going to make things worse, rather than better and goes totally against the interests of the Argentine people and within a year we’re going to be in a worse situation than we are in now,” the city mayor said.

In addition, the head of the city government said that “the discussion of whether YPF is prívate or public, nationally managed or internationally managed does not solve the problema.”
