Over 120 hostages at Brazilian state prison
Around 400 inmates maintain over 120 hostages in a state prison at northeast Brazil for 20 hours now. Most of the hostages are relatives of the inmates and include many women and children as well as prison guards.
According to the Brazilian media, the inmates are armed with knives and three rifles stolen from the prison’s Armory room.
Over 150 policeman were sent to the premises. Marcos Carvalho, police’s negotiator, said that so far no breakthrough has been made.
