Mónaco moves up to No.14 after Houston win

After his victory in Houston, Juan Mónaco tied his career best and climbed two positions in the World Ranking to No. 14; while Juan Martín del Potro remains No. 11 after the ATP revealed today the new tour’s rankings after the weekend’s activity.

Meanwhile, Juan Ignacio Chela lost one spot and descended top No.33, and David Nalbandián remained at No.49.

With his finals appearance in Houston, John Isner eases past an ailing Mardy Fish and becomes the No.1 US tennis player by advancing one spot to No. 9. Isner is skipping a return trip to Monte Carlo this week (his Davis Cup triumph at the very same club still fresh in his mind) to return to Florida and get fitter and stronger for an assault on the clay-court season.
