Urban music duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso announce Tiny Desk concert

The Argentina experimental rap artists will be featured on ‘El Tiny’, a special takeover of NPR’s popular show format during Latinx Heritage Month in the US

Argentina’s iconic trap duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso announced their upcoming Tiny Desk concert as part of “El Tiny”, a special sidebar of the National Public Radio’s (NPR) popular show format for Latinx Heritage Month in the US. The concert was recorded during their Latin American tour promoting their latest studio album Baño María. The show’s release date has yet to be announced.

The artists, who are elementary school friends, emerged from the Buenos Aires trap scene. Paco Amoroso competed on the now-legendary urban music competition El Quinto Escalón, the launch pad for top artists like Duki, Wos and YSY A.

Their jump to stardom happened in 2018 with songs “Jala-Jala” and “OUKE,” and they made strides forward in 2022 with singles “Paga Dios” and “En el After.” The duo stood out in the local trap scene thanks to their constant efforts to mix pop, techno, and hip house elements into their music. In 2024 they released Baño Maria, their first album, featuring established artists such as Lali and Tini.

NPR launched their Tiny Desk concerts in 2009, as a pared-down show format for artists to give natural, unfiltered performances. The shows usually take place on the desk of NPR host and producer Bob Boilen at the radio’s Washington headquarters. Guests have included Adele, Tyler the Creator, Usher, Fred Again and Miller.

Argentine artists who have previously done Tiny Desk sessions include Trueno, Nicki Nicole, Juana Molina and Nathy Peluso.

The 2024 version of El Tiny kicked off on September 16 with a show by Colombian artist Juanes, and will end on October 15th.
