Buenos Aires City teachers pertaining to the Ademys union carried out a 24-hour strike and marched toward the City Legislature to further insist their complaints against the Mauricio Macri's administration's plan to merge 96 classes due to the lack of pupils.

“The decision to merge 96 forms was confirmed by Education Minister Esteban Bullrich yesterday, which caused so many teachers to join in on the strike,” secretary-general of the union Carlos Oroz said, who on Monday had confirmed the strike to the press.

Legislators held a special session to debate the issue, despite that it was not part of the day's agenda.

City Education Minister Esteban Bullrich blasted Ademys’ decision to go on strike. “It is not us closing grades. Teachers do so because they do not go to wor.”

The teachers protested outside the City Legislature after having marched from Avenida de Mayo and Chacabuco.
