Nalbandian to open Davis Cup series against Croatia
David Nalbandian will face Marin Cilic in the opening singles on Friday before the encounter between Juan Martín Del Potro and Uvo Karlovic, in the first day of the series between Argentina and Croatia for the quarter final of the Davis Cup.
The match will be held after the opening ceremony at 10:30am and the doubles will be played on Saturday at 12pm.
The doubles will be formed by Nalbandian and Santa Fe’s Eduardo Schwank for Argentina and Lovro Zovko and Cilic for Croatia, unless there are some last-minute modifications.
Nalbandian has already beaten Cilic in four opportunities in ATP tournaments, while Del Potro has beaten 2 times out of three his opponent.
Del Potro currently is at the tenth place of the world ranking, while Juan Mónaco advanced to the 16 place this last week, Nalbandian is at the 50 place and Schwank at 187.
Meanwhile, Croatian Cilic is at the 23 place; Karlovic, 52; Antonio Veic, 150 and Zovko, 93 in doubles.
The winner of the series will play one of the semi-finals – on September – against the winner of the series held in Praga this weekend between Czech Republic and Serbia.
