Police, Quebracho members clash outside British embassy

Protesters set on fire an effigy of a British soldier.

Members of the extreme left-wing organization Quebracho clashed with police officials on Monday afternoon during a protest in front of the British embassy, in the City neighbourhood of Recoleta.

The militants began throwing Molotov cocktails at the police officials and used a slingshot to hurl marble balls.

They also set on fire an effigy of a British soldier in front of the building, which was being strongly protected by members of the Federal Police.

The protesters managed to bring down the police barricade set up to protect the embassy, for which a water cannon tank was sent in to disperse them.

After a few minutes, the Infantry managed to regain control of the situation.

Quebracho is known for exercising violence whenever they stage a protest around the City.

Along with members of the Communist and Workers' parties, protesters gathered outside the embassy on the 30th anniversary of the Malvinas War.
