Super TC2000: Werner wins BA honours

Before a massive crowd, Toyota Corolla’s team pilot Mariano Werner won the Super TC2000 second race of the season's at the Buenos Aires downtown street circuit.

Trailing in second and third places came Brazilian Carlos "Caca" Bueno, and Jorge Trebbiani both with Ford Focus models.

The drivers raced through the 9 de Julio avenue, Diagonal Norte street and Avenida de Mayo, and passed through the Colón theatre, the Obelisc, the Cathedral and the Cabildo of Buenos Aires.

The Super TC2000 attracted thousands of spectators for today’s competition as race cars were pictured on the usually busy 9 de Julio avenue with the iconic Eva Perón mural in the background.

Christian Ledesma, with a Chevrolet Cruze, had made the best time to take the pole position yesterday in the qualifying race of the Super TC 2000 category in the city of Buenos Aires.

Ledesma timed one minute, 11 seconds 510/1000, leaving José María “Pechito” López (Fiat Linea) 184/1000 behind, Facundo Ardusso (Peugeot 408) 251/1000, Mariano Werner (Toyota Corolla) 339/1000 and Brazilian Carlos “Cacá” Bueno (Ford Focus) 421/1000. The first nine places were completed by Jorge Trebbiani (Ford Focus) 658/1000, Mariano Altuna (Renault Fluence) 772/1000, Bernardo Llaver (Toyota Corolla) 784/1000 and Leonel Pernía (Renault Fluence) 849/1000.
