National Cabinet Chief Juan Manuel Abal Medina, came out to comment on the City government's rejection of the subway transfer, and made it clear that the subway system "will be controlled by the City of Buenos Aires," and further stated that Mauricio Macri should "comply with the law and take responsibility of the service."
The controversial handover has been postponed several times generating clashes between local and national governments.
The controversial handover has been postponed several times generating clashes between local and national governments.
"Macri has to abide by the law and take responsibility for the Subway,’ he said during an interview with a local radio station.
“The bill was signed and passed by the Parliament. What else does he need to finalize the handover?” the cabinet chief said referring to the famous quarrel between the national government and City Mayor Mauricio Macri.
Abal Medina also downplayed the importance of a face-to-face meeting between President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Macri by saying “it is not a personal matter. We have a signed deal, so why do have to come back to the meeting subject?”
