Teamsters' union lift Friday's strike

The truck drivers’ union announced it lifted the national strike and march towards the Labour Ministry scheduled for Friday, as a new opportunity to negotiate over the situation of the 2,300 workers of Eki supermarket chain appeared.

The heads of the union, Pablo Moyano and Marcelo Aparicio explained that the suspension of the strike is a “good will gesture to continue with the negotiations and find a solution to the conflict.”

According to the union, the measure was “put off” after “the commitment of Carrefour company with the union” to dialogue and to possibly take care of Eki supermarket chain and its workers.

Earlier, the representatives of the teamsters’ union met at the Labour Ministry, but could not reach an agreement and had ratified the strike.
