Teamsters to strike on Friday
The truck drivers union led by Hugo and Pablo Moyano have called for a strike and announced that workers in charge of supermarket distribution will not work on Friday, to protest against an ongoing conflict with Eki supermarket chain.
In a communiqué signed by Pablo Moyano, the truck drivers called its affiliates to stop the supermarket logistics and distribution branches on Friday. The rally will take place at noon in front of the Labour Ministry, along Leandro N Alem avenue 600. The measure could affect the supply of supermarkets including Walmart, Coto, Día, Discp, La Anónima and Carrefour, ahead of a long weekend and only a few days before Easter weekend.
“It is unbelievable that nobody knows what will happen with EKI workers, who are in a desperate situation, their wages have not been paid in the last three months by the company.
“We do not understand why the Labour Ministry does get involved seriously in this subject, instead of appearing at the last minute and behind the backs of those affected in the conflict.”
