CFK arrives to Chile ahead of Piñera meeting

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner landed in Santiago, Chile, where she will meet with her Chilean counterpart Sebastián Piñera.

The Head of State is accompanied by Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman, Planning Minister Julio De Vido, Education Minister Alberto Sileoni and was received by Argentine Ambassador to Chile Ginés González García and by Chilean foreign minister Alfredo Moreno.

Argentina will assure the Chilean Government that imports from that country will not be subjected to observations, but those coming from other areas, particularly Asia, will be controlled. That will be the main criteria Fernández de Kirchner will communicate to Piñera in her official visit, which had been scheduled for January but was postponed due to her thyroid gland surgery.

The President will be received by Piñera at La Moneda presidential palace, where she will be the guest of honour at a dinner with government officials and businessmen. On Friday she will hold two meetings with her counterpart. Later Fernández de Kirchner and Piñera will hold a joint press conference and the Chilean Government will announce its backing of the Argentina claim of sovereignty over the Malvinas islands. The press conference will also include the announcement health and education related accords.
