Roma AS to extend Heinze's contract

Roma AS defender Gabriel Heinze is on the verge of a contract renewal as the former Olympique de Marseille man will be given a one-year extension to his current deal once he plays his 25th game for the Italy’s capital city team, Italian media reported.

Heinze, who joined Roma from Olympique de Marseille has so far made 24 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A powerhouse, and is expected to feature in his 25th game against Genoa next week.

The 33-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season, but he will likely earn himself a new deal until June 2013 next week due to a clause in his current agreement.

Heinze reportedly earns u$s 1.567.950 million per year at Roma at present, and will continue under the same terms next season.
