De Vido makes strongly defends transport subsidies

During the inauguration ceremony held for newly-appointed Transport Secretary Alejandro Ramos today, Planning Minister Julio De Vido defended achievements made in the sector, stating that the Government would “maintain the subsidies” on public transport and that the sensitive issue "would be resolved by May."

Mentioning some of the hot topics of discussion under the transport umbrella, De Vido assured the Government “will not lift the policies in place for subsidies” on urban transport in the City of Buenos Aires and in the Greater Buenos Aires area and that “we will make clear exactly which Argentines will be subsidized.”

“We are going to pay attention to the issue of subsidies by way of the SUBE card,” the Planning Minister stated, also remarking on the importance of the card during the press event held at the Economy Ministry.

The planning minister stated that “the President’s objectives were clear” during her State of the Nation speech in the Congress last week highlighting that they "wish to move the issues following the Once train crash forward" alongside Ramos.

De Vido also sharply critiqued Mauricio Macri’s administration stating that they “don’t allow us to advance,” in the midst of the fight over the control of the subway.

The planning minister also highlighted the sharp rate of increase in the price of subway fares, remarking on how more passengers are now using the bus services in the city of Buenos Aires, due to the fact that fares are cheaper.
