“Rock in Río,” one of the main international rock festivals, will take place in Buenos Aires City in 2013 and it will probably be held at the Parque de la Ciudad headquarters, according to an official statement.
The organizers estimated that the mega event will leave an income of more than $400 million dollars for the City.
Although the dates of the 2013 festival are not defined yet, Roberto Medina, creator and president of Rock in Río, met with city Mayor Mauricio Macri and the city’s Culture Minister, Hernán Lombardi, in several occasions to determine the details of the show.
The final contract will be signed within the next 60 to 90 days.
Buenos Aires will then be the fourth city to receive this mega-event, after Río de Janeiro, Lisbon (Portugal) and Madrid (Spain).
The Parque de la Ciudad, located at the Villa Soldati neighbourhood, will be the scenario for the “City of Rock,” of 200,000 square metres and with a capacity for 100,000 people per day.
The artists that will be part of the festival at Buenos Aires City were not mentioned yet, however, many Argentine groups are scheduled to perform in the next editions of Rock in Río in Lisbon, Madrid and Brazil.
