Once tragedy: judge bans Schiavi, TBA chairman from leaving country

Secretary of Transportation Juan Pablo Schiavi.

Federal Judge Claudio Bonadio banned Transportation Secretary Juan Pablo Schiavi and the chairman of Trenes de Buenos Aires, Claudio Cirigliano, from leaving the country as investigations as to what caused the Once railway tragedy continues.

Judicial sources informed that the judge’s decision also affects Railway Transportation Undersecretary Antonio Luna, the head of the CNRT Eduardo Sícaro and other TBA officials.

The same sources explained that despite the ruling, this doesn’t mean that any of the Government officials or businessmen will be charged. They could, however, be charged eventually if the investigation continues.

At the same time, lawyer Gregorio Dalbón, who represents the families of the victims, appealed, before the Federal Chamber, that judge Bonadio had decided to accept the Government as plaintiff last week.
