Del Potro reaches 9th place at ATP ranking

Juan Martín Del Potro climbed from the tenth to the ninth place at the tennis world ranking after reaching the semi-finals of the Dubai Championship.

The 23-year-old player replaced Serb Janko Tipsarevic and was left only 35 points from US’ Mardy Fish, who currently stands at the eighth place.

Meanwhile, Carlos Belocq, who achieved Acapulco’s quarter-finals, was the Argentine who climbed the most, from the 44th to the 38th place.

Juan Mónaco (22, +1), Juan Ignacio Chela (32, +1), David Nalbandian (74, -4) and Leonardo Mayer (78, -5) are also among the first 100 players at the ranking.
