Menghini Rey's family: 'We want to say goodbye in peace'
The family of Lucas Menghini Rey, whose body was found inside a carriage of the train that crashed at Once station on Wednesday after being missing for two days, requested peace and tranquility to say their final goodbye.
In a communiqué signed by Lucas’ parents, Paolo Menghini and María Luján Rey and his sisters Lara Menghini Rey and Paz Menghini Dorola, the youngster’s family made its first public comments following the discovery of the corpse.
"Lucas, our son, brother, nephew, grandson, father and friend is gone. He is gone. All the strength we had, all the support we received to look for him and find him were not enough. And we will say goodbye to him with infinite sadness, but bathed by the light he left us. We are undergoing the most difficult days of our lives, and the loneliness of never finding his easygoing, adorable smile awaits us."
“That is why –the communiqué reads- we want to ask you, from the bottom of our hearts, to allow us to say good bye in peace and among those who loved him. Give us the tranquility of not having to hide, of not having to avoid cameras, of not having to run to get inside cars. No image is worth violating such a sacred moment. Understand us."
Likewise the family announced that they will release another statement on Monday to give closure to this chapter. “Please contribute to the peace in which we want celebrate a life that was as happy as it was short, Lu, Luquitas, el Chimu, el Menghi, our beloved daredevil deserves it,” the communiqué concluded..
