Lugo travels to Santa Cruz, expresses solidarity to CFK over train crash
Paraguayan President Fernando Lugo arrived in Río Gallegos, where he was received by Planning Minister Julio De Vido, and later travelled to El Calafate where he met his Argentine counterpart Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
Although there were no further details over the encounter between the presidents, Lugo has expressed his solidarity to Fernández de Kirchner over the Once station train crash that has left 51 dead and 703 injured.
After arriving at the Patagonia province, he had lunch with De Vido and part of the envoy. Afterwards, he headed to late President Néstor Kirchner’s mausoleum at the city’s cemetery.
Meanwhile, the Paraguayan Embassy in Argentina confirmed that the president is in an official visit and gave instructions to Ambassador Gabriel Enciso López to “send condolences from the Paraguayan government over the Once station tragic train crash.”
Fernández de Kirchner arrived at Río Gallegos and also went to the cemetery to pay homage to her late husband, whose birthday is tomorrow.
