Gov't announces two days of mourning
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner announced a two day mourning period over the Once train accident in which 50 people died and 675 were injured.
“The Government and the people of Argentina accompany with solidarity and sorrow the grief of the families of the victims of the accident,” decree 245 reads.
In light of the accident, Carnival celebrations which were to be held on Friday along 9 de Julio Avenue along the City, were cancelled.
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner cancelled all public appearances and will continue with her schedule both in the Government House and in the Olivos presidential residence.
