Dutch Prince Johan Friso in critical condition after being buried by avalanche

Dutch Prince Johan Friso was in critical but stable condition at an intensive care unit in an Innsbruck hospital after being buried by an avalanche in Austria, the Dutch government said.

Rescue crews pulled Dutch Prince Johan Friso from under an avalanche that had buried him 15 minutes earlier in western Austria, media reported.

The prince was transferred to the University clinic in (the city of) Innsbruck.

The Dutch royal family often spends winter holidays in Lech in the western province of Vorarlberg.

Prince Johan Friso, 43, is the middle son of Queen Beatrix. His older brother is Crown Prince Willem-Alexander, husband of Argentina's Máxima
Zorreguieta, and his younger brother is Prince Constantijn.
