Moyano allies planning to modify CGT voting system
Deputy and head of the newspaper salesmen union, Omar Plaini, admitted that some members of the CGT Labour Confederation closed to its boss Hugo Moyano, are considering the possibility of changing the voting system to choose labour union officials and thus allowing greater participation of the smallest unions.
Plaini was clear about the intention of some heavy-weight CGT leaders linked to Moyano: “It wouldn’t be good if just a few large organizations take reins to define the fate of the whole CGT universe.”
The initiative comes as Moyano is currently holding on the charge of the CGT sector led by the so called “Fatsos” which gathers the most important and large anti-Moyano unions, and other sector known as the “Independents or dissidents”.
The lorry-drivers’ chieftain can lose the office in this year’s election with the current system. However, it believes it can retain power if the vote is, for example, directly between the members.
