Lawmaker Díaz Bancalari assaulted outside Gov't House

A group of Malvinas war veterans assaulted Victory Front lawmaker José María Díaz Bancalari as he exited the Government House following a Malvinas war ceremony led by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner in the Government House.

The lawmaker was the first official to exit the Government House and as he addressed reporters, he was insulted and then physically attacked by veterans belonging to the Buenos Aires province Federation of war veterans.

The attackers reportedly couldn’t enter the Government House to take part of the ceremony and questioned lawmaker Díaz Bancalari over the announcement of the creation of a mental health hospital for veterans.

After he was assaulted, Díaz Bancalari backed away and as he addressed reporters he was once again punched and kicked. He was ultimately able to get into a car that was waiting for him outside the Nation Bank.
