Not the best start for River
River Plate started the second part of the National B Division tournament with a 1-1 draw against Almirante Brown in Isidro Casanova yesterday.
Matías Almeyda’s team, who signed Leonardo Ponzio and David Trezeguet to face the next six months of the competition, went ahead with a great goal scored by Fernando Cavenaghi. However, striker Daniel Vega equalized the game after taking advantage of a rebound inside River’s area.
River dominated the game during the first minutes. Playmaker Alejandro Domínguez gave a perfect pass to Cavenaghi and the former Internacional striker scored his 14th goal of the season in the 13th minute.
After the goal, River made many mistakes and Almirante Brown found the equalizer on Vega’s feet.
