'It's the UK who is alone in this, not Argentina,' Timerman says
Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman said in Venezuela on Sunday that “Argentina is not alone on its sovereignty claim over the Malvinas Islands,” assuring that it’s the UK who is actually alone.
“Today in Caracas it is evident that the Malvinas cause has united Latin America and the Caribbean. Argentina is not alone in this. It is actually Great Britain who is alone,” he stated.
The Government official thanked heads of state and foreign minister from the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas (ALBA) for their support in Argentina’s claim.
Timerman made these statements after ALBA member countries Venezuela, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda and Dominica asked for sanctions against Great Britain due to its refusal to begin negotiations over the Malvinas Islands.
Timerman arrived in Venezuela to take part in a summit that grouped heads of state and foreign ministers from several countries in the region.
