'Moyano has failed politically,' Lescano assures
The head of the power workers’ union, Oscar Lescano, questioned Hugo Moyano’s leadership at the helm of the CGT labour confederation due to his confrontational attitude towards the National Government. “His time in office is over and he has failed politically,” he assured.
“Instead of sending letters to them, it’s time we let the Government enforce whatever policies they see fit in order to reach their goals,” he said in a radio interview.
His statements came as it became public that Moyano had sent President Fernández de Kirchner two letters, in which he regretted not being able to schedule a meeting with her in order to discuss several issues related to the labour sector.
“Who sends the President letters? Who does that? I don’t know what’s wrong with him, but I see him getting lonelier everyday,” he added.
The unionist assured that “if would be prudent for Moyano to quit now,” and said he was in favour of him being replaced by someone from the industrial sector, such as UOM’s Antonio Caló or SMATA’s Ricardo Pignatelli.
He closed by saying that whoever becomes leader of the CGT “should have a more conciliatory attitude, since engaging in talks is something that has never failed us.”
