Suffocating heat: temps hit 38 degrees, rains expected overnight
While Europe suffers ''the big freeze'' residents of Buenos Aires and its surrounding areas endured another day of suffocating heat, as temperatures crept up to an astounding 38 degrees Celcius.
Following the unpredictable weather forecast during the past week seeing storms, flash flooding, suffocating temperatures and cooler sunny spells hit Buenos Aires; today the heat came back to town with a vengeance, with the registered heat index reaching a high of 38 degrees.
At around 4 pm this afternoon the heat, mixed with the humidity brought by the rains earlier in the week, left residents exposed to asphyxiating “heavier” heat, with a little amount of breeze to relieve them.
The rain that was expected in the Capital didn’t arrive on Saturday, however, was expected overnight and throughout Sunday. The National Weather Forecasting Service (SMN) predicted that the maximum temperature would reach around 27 degrees, much lower than in recent days.
