Argentina,Paraguay agree to avoid 'unnecessary delays' in new trade barriers
Argentina and Paraguay agreed on a mechanism that will avoid delays and other negative effects to the neighbouring country’s imports due to the new Argentine custom’s regime, the Paraguayan Foreign Ministry announced.
“Authorities of both countries have agreed upon a mechanism for the exchange of information and data checking which will contribute to avoid unnecessary delays in the export of our products,” a communiqué stated.
The accord was reached during a bilateral meeting which took place in Buenos Aires on Thursday.
Paraguayan businessmen and industry leaders had warned that the new Argentine trade regulations, which were enforced Wednesday, affected their country negatively and had become a "real trade barrier."
With the new trade regulations, Argentina demands that those who import have to present a sworn statement in advance.
