Gov't expands areas under possible subsidy cuts

The National Government decided to extend the Greater Buenos Aires areas that might be affected with subsidy cuts to public services like natural gas, electricity and water.

The Planning and Economy ministries issued a communiqué today informing that new neighborhoods will be receiving by March a special form to be completed by users in order to indicate if they would like to keep subsidies and why.

Thus the new affected neighborhoods are: La Lucila, and Olivos (Vicente López district); Club Pueyrredón, Martínez, and Beccar (San Isidro district); Benavídez, General Pacheco, and Don Torcuato (Tigre district); Punta Chica, and Victoria (San Fernando disctrict); Adrogué (Almirante Brown district); Parque Leloir, and Barrio 33 (Ituzaingo district); and Hurlingham district.

The new areas include 71,000 users that currently cost the State $288 million pesos in subsidies.
