Two arrested in Banfield's Policeman murder case

Two men were arrested on suspicion of killing Buenos Aires province police officer Néstor Aranda in Southern Greater BA town of Banfield. Aranda was shot dead today in the middle of a shoot-out with at least three armed robbers who were breaking into a family home. Official reports stated that robbers had been keeping the family hostage before the police intervened.

The incident took place at around 7am this morning when local police arrived to the house at the intersection of Miguel Cané and Lavalle streets, where the robbers were keeping the mother and daughter of the family hostage.

Police sources indicated that upon the group of officers arrived to the scene and after a shoot-out with the robbers, one of the policemen was killed. Consequently two suspects were arrested at the scene.
